Searching Through your Old Tweets

If you search for your old tweets on Twitter Search you’ll find just a couple of pages of results,or about a week’s worth.

This is not that helpful if you have been using a Twitter hash tag to provide information for a course you are teaching.

So how can you find tweets going back over a longer time?

TwitterWell thanks to Google’s decision back in Oct 2009 to index real time Tweets, you can do a search on Google.

Searches need to search the twitter.com site so start your search with “site:twitter.com” then add search terms such as a user id and what they tweeted about.

Thus to search my tweets for the term eLearning your would search Google for “site:twitter.com kiwicarol elearning“.

Have you found any other ways to search back into the archives of Twitter?

You can try TweetBurner or TweetScan, which are both free as of August 2011. Many free apps go to paid versions. Let’s see what happens with Google+!
